Full form of ABODM is American Board of Disaster Medicine

In view of the various disasters that followed September 11, 2001, it was felt that most of the physicians in disaster management sites do not have the proper training for the emergency needs, which makes them a threat to themselves as well as to the process. Thus, the American Board of Disaster Medicine was formed for the purpose of scholarly exchange and education in Disaster Medicine as well as the development of an examination demonstrating excellence towards Board Certification in this new specialty.
